And a little sidestep
Googlemaps is a website where is, as it’s name implies, is a map of the world, with all the roads indexed, etc. If you wish to calculate how to get from one place to another, it’ll show you the exact room name, estimated time taken, etc, etc. Of course, it screws with you sometimes.
On the other hand, had a friend looking online for a modem to buy. One of them listed the specs,
“Top-mounted standby switch enhances network security”
I feel like such a geek finding these things amusing.
Sexist much?
I swear, I can compile and publish a joke book from these.
Google can be the most random solution to answer questions these days. WordPress has this ability to tell you what a person may have searched in a search engine such as google or yahoo to find your blog. In the recent days, I got the expected searches of “08s33″ or “Osiris Oath” or “Vjc Orientation 2008″. Well, I checked today, and this is what I got.
Somebody needs pronunciation lessons.
Insurance
Talk about full insurance by Apple, they’re bloody paranoid, given their License agreement in ITunes, it cracked me up for ages.
Within the long list which everyone probably skips, are hilarious quotes, such as,
“THE APPLE SOFTWARE IS NOT INTENDED FOR USE IN THE OPERATION OF NUCLEAR FACILITIES, AIRCRAFT NAVIGATION OR COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS, AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL SYSTEMS, LIFE SUPPORT MACHINES OR OTHER EQUIPMENT IN WHICH THE FAILURE OF THE APPLE SOFTWARE COULD LEAD TO DEATH, PERSONAL INJURY, OR SEVERE PHYSICAL OR ENVIRONMENTAL DAMAGE. “
as well as
“You also agree that you will not use these products for any purposes prohibited by United States law, including, without limitation, the development, design, manufacture or production of missiles, or nuclear, chemical or biological weapons.”
Talk about covering up every frickin’ thing possible
The most ridiculous part is the last portion,
“Without limiting the foregoing, under no circumstances shall 3Com be held liable for any delay or failure in performance resulting directly or indirectly from acts of nature, forces, or causes beyond its reasonable control, including, without limitation, Internet failures, computer equipment failures, telecommunication equipment failures, other equipment failures, electrical power failures, strikes, labor disputes, riots, insurrections, civil disturbances, shortages of labor or materials, fires, floods, storms, explosions, acts of God, war, governmental actions, orders of domestic or foreign courts or tribunals, non-performance of third parties, or loss of or fluctuations in heat, light, or air conditioning.”
Explosions, acts of god, fluctuations in heat and light, wtf?
God, technology amuses me sometimes.
